info@loehrhealth.com | 417-887-8075Jessi Jewell, a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Women’s Health, joined Loehr Health Center in the Fall of 2021. As a WHNP, she uses her wide range of Women’s health expertise to help adolescents all the way to postmenopausal women at every stage in their lives. She makes it a priority to focus her care dependent on the stage of life the woman is at as well as the problem they are experiencing. She specializes in pregnancy care as well as preconception care. She focuses on finding causes, not treating symptoms. She utilizes herbal supplements, changes in diet and lifestyle to experience relief from symptoms the natural way and improve overall health. She strongly believes in client centered care. She develops a plan with the patient to help them be healthy and happy. She does not believe that health care is a one size fits all. Each person needs an individualized treatment plan.

First Job: Sonic drive in. Yes, I did ride on roller skates!
Who was the most influential person to you as a child?
My mother and father. I saw what hard working individuals they were, what they came from and then became due to their hard work. They always told me I could do anything I wanted to if I worked hard enough. They both encouraged me to attend college and follow my dreams. Besides a distant Aunt on my father’s side of the family I am the first in my family to obtain a college degree.
Why did you become a Nurse Practitioner?
From a very young age I knew I wanted to help people or animals. I thought about being a veterinarian as well as a physician. I decided on becoming a nurse practitioner when I thought about how much having a family of my own meant to me. Having a good work life balance was important to me. It means a lot to me to be a mother.
Why did you specialize in pregnancy and women’s health?
My first job as a registered nurse was on the cardiac floor. I tried it for 1 year and knew it was not for me. I then was hired in Labor and Delivery and fell in love! This is when I knew I wanted to care for women and pregnancy.
What is one modern convenience you couldn’t live without?
Heat and air conditioning! I can’t stand being hot or cold.
What is your favorite place to visit?
Montana so far! I went there once recently and thought the landscape was just gorgeous. The trees and waterways were so relaxing. I loved the extremely rural atmosphere.
What is your favorite way to spend your weekend?
Any activities with my husband and 2 kiddos. We enjoy camping, sports or just hanging out together. We love going to Springfield Cardinals games or any new adventures!
