Hello and welcome to the Loehr Health Center Blog.
My Name is Dr. Steven Baca and every month I will be covering a variety of topics on the Internal Side of Chiropractic. What exactly does that mean? More of that in a minute, but first I’d like for you to get to know me a little better.
I have been a Chiropractor for over 15 years and in that time frame I have helped many patients with any number of aches, pains and ailments. I am married with two children and we currently live in Ozark, MO. My hobbies include hunting, fishing and the great outdoors, but what I love most is seeing a smile on someone’s face that I have helped. One of the misconceptions about my profession is that most people only think I treat low back pain and headaches. I decided to change that perception, so I began furthering my education and enrolled in a 300 hour post graduate study in Internal Medicine. The courses in the program are things that most people would not associate a Chiropractor with. These courses include studying subjects such as:
- Endocrinology (Thyroid, Adrenals, Ovaries/Testes and Pituitary)
- Infectious Diseases
- Cardiovascular (Heart) Disorders
- Lung Function
- Neoplastic (Cancer)
- And Dermatology (Skin)… just to name few.
In fact, when I began the program it was like I started Chiropractic College all over again. When finished with all the coursework and after successful completion of a comprehensive test, I will hold the distinguished title of Diplomate of the American Broad of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI).
Enough about me, as promised, let’s talk about the Internal Side of Chiropractic. Once a month I will be tackling topics dealing with internal disorders and how natural Chiropractic care can help. Disorders that I will be covering in the next few weeks will include discussions on Nutrition, Diabetes, Blood work, Food Allergies, Hypothyroidism and Digestive System just to name a few.
